SUSTAINABLE FROM THE CORE

  • Etymologically, the word sustainability comes from sustainability. And sustainable is, for instance, a composition of sustainable. So if we start from the beginning, to sustain means “give support to”, “to hold up”, “to bear” or to “keep up”.

With changing times, the industry has also become mindful of its consumption, usage, and purchase of wood raw materials. An extra thought is being put for being effective towards sustaining the ecosystem and by turning to innovative discoveries in the Markets by creating different products by thoughtfully observing the wastes even from the wood residues.

One of the main pillars of Sustainability is Economic development. Keeping that in mind, the wood industry has adapted to a novel approach where they have begun to successfully experiment with innovating and creating alternative products using creative imaginations from the waste of wood material. Wood products manufacturers are connecting with designers, architects etc to create and to use the wood products that are manufactured out of wastes of wood residues.

All in all, the wood panel industry is making conscious efforts to minimalize wood wastage in ways that neither affect the quality of the end product nor does it require utilization of large amounts of raw material.

CONSERVING IS PROTECTING:

  • A Sustainable Future Awaits!

One of the main pillars of Sustainability is Economic development. Keeping that in mind, the Panel Boardindustry has adapted to a novel approach where they have begun to successfully experiment with innovating and creating alternative products using creative and innovative imaginations from the waste of wood material. All in all, the people and businesses of this sector are making conscious efforts to minimalize wood wastage in ways that neither affect the quality of the end product nor does it require the utilization of large amounts of raw material.

The Panel Board industry literally thrives by morals. It strives on using optimal raw materials for minimal waste to commute environmental impacts and conservation of natural resources.

CONVERTING WASTE IN TO VALUE-ADDED PRODUCTS:

  • The panel-board industry is determined to thrive domestically and grow globally with having minimal impact on our natural habitat and surroundings. Our industry gloats with pride as the manufacturers use technology that optimizes the leftover wood waste including shavings and woodchips into new high-quality panel boards. The industry believes that the equilibrium between consumption and production can be achieved by ensuring maximum optimization of raw material- using the waste to manufacture a completely new high-value-added product.

BUILDING A GREENER ESSENCE:

  • The popular opinion concerning the furniture industry is that it consumes a high amount of wood resulting in the cutting of trees and thus, affects the ‘green cover’. This opinion is generalized far too much. The Association on behalf of the entire industry vehemently states why this perspective is assumed wrongly and that the industry has been incessantly involved in creating an ecologically sound environment.

In fact, the principal aim of the board is to promote Agroforestry and make it the main source of raw material for the panel board industry. The trees planted through Agroforestry possess a life cycle of 3-4 years and are mainly planted for the purpose of being used as raw materials for all wood-based industries. This way, the green cover remains intact and keeps growing.

The panelboard industry, in particular, has been endorsing a more technologically sound base as the wood used in manufacturing panelboards is produced from a quick-growing agroforestry hardwood species that normally takes about 4 to 5 years to mature and is regularly replenished. The input-output ratio is a colossal 90-95% versus its contemporary plywood’s being 60-65%. This brings us to conclude that, panelboard is produced 100% out of renewable and sustainable wood resources and hence, it is ideal for use in GRIHA and IGBC- certified buildings.
