BUILDING A GREENER ESSENCE :

  • The popular opinion concerning the furniture industry is that it consumes high amount of wood resulting in to cutting of trees and thus, affects the ‘green cover’. This opinion is generalized far too much. The Association on behalf of the entire industry vehemently states why this perspective is assumed wrongly and that the industry has been incessantly involved in creating an ecologically sound environment.

In fact, the principal aim of the board is to promote Agro-forestry and make it the main source of raw material for PANEL BOARD industry. The trees planted through Agro-forestry possess a life cycle of 3-4 years and are mainly planted for the purpose of being used as raw materials for all wood-based industries. This way, the green cover remains intact and keeps growing.

The panel board industry in particular has been endorsing a more technologically sound base as, the wood used in manufacturing panel boards is produced from a quick-growing AGROFORESTRY hardwood species that normally takes about 4 to 5 years to mature and is regularly replenished. The input-output ratio is a colossal 90-95% versus its contemporary plywood’s being 60-65%. This brings us to conclude that, panel board is produced 100% out of renewable and sustainable wood resources and hence, it is ideal for use in GRIHA and IGBC- certified buildings.
